MLK Leadership Series 2013
Orlando, Florida – December 5, 2012- The I.S. Hankins-F.A. Johnson Education Foundation, Inc. of Alpha Phi Alpha in partnership with the Mayor of Orlando’s MLK Holiday Commission, the Office of Diversity Initiative at UCF and the FAMU College of Law will be hosting the 2013 MLK Leadership Series – 8th Annual MLK Leadership Forum & 27th Annual MLK Commemorative Luncheon.
On Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 6pm we kick-off with the 8th Annual MLK Leadership Forum at the FAMU College of Law in downtown Orlando starting at 6pm. The Forum will be an engaging, interactive, action-driven discussion with key leaders of the Orlando community. The forum topic “The Journey to Justice: Pursuing Equality in our Election Process” will be an enlightening discussion that we hope invokes attendees to pursue justice through their equal right to vote.
On Friday, January 18, 2013 at 11am under the theme of “Remember, Celebrate, Act: King’s Dream for our World” the 27th Annual MLK Commemorative Luncheon will take place at the Church Street Station Ballroom. The keynote speaker is Mr. Daryl D. Parks, founding and managing partner of Parks & Crump, LLC (http://parkscrump.com).
The luncheon will be a justifiable break in the work day to recall, reflect and reactivate the DREAM of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community leaders and organizations will be recognized for their contributions with the prestigious Drum Major award. Proceeds from the luncheon will help the Hankins/Johnson Foundation reach its 2013 goal of awarding $15,000 in scholarships while also providing funds for other educational and community service initiatives.
The I.S. Hankins-F.A. Johnson Education Foundation, Inc. of Alpha Phi Alpha cordially invites the Metro Orlando community to commemorate, celebrate and live the DREAM. The Forum and Luncheon are open to the public. The Forum admission is free to the public while the Luncheon is a ticketed event.
