Barbara J. Walker is an attorney and Registered Nurse who combines her experience and passion for nursing and law in representing, advising, and advocating the interests of individuals who are injured and/or neglected in the healthcare system in complex medical negligence and nursing home litigation. She also practices in the areas of wrongful death and catastrophic personal injury. She is committed to the practice of law and exemplifies her commitment to be an advocate for justice by demonstrating a genuine interest in the process of litigation, the interpretation of the law, and most importantly the clients that she has committed to serve. She received her undergraduate degree in Nursing with Honors from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (FAMU) and her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. Prior to practicing law, Ms. Walker worked as a registered nurse and gained invaluable experience that aids her in the litigation of complex medical malpractice and nursing home cases. She worked her way through law school as a nurse and still maintains her RN licensure.
Ms. Walker is dedicated to making a difference in her practice and the community. Her compassion for her clients and her passion for her career are evident through her fearless and tenacious efforts to obtain recovery on behalf of her clients. As an associate with the Law office of Parks & Crump, LLC, she has obtained settlements and verdicts in excess of 1 million dollars for her clients. In 2013, Ms. Walker was recognized as “The Nation’s Best Advocate” by the National Bar Association and IMPACT at its National Top 40 Lawyers Under 40 awards ceremony.
Ms. Walker is active in various professional and civic organizations which include the National Bar Association, American Bar Association, Tallahassee Barristers Association, Tallahassee Women Lawyers, Florida Justice Association, American Association for Justice, and Capital City Justice Association. In 2012, she was appointed by the Mayor of Tallahassee to serve as a Tallahassee-Leon County Planning Commissioner. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and also volunteers on the Leon County Sickle Cell Foundation Board.
